Uranium Mining Scoping Study - Tanzania

LQS Australia consultant Alex Topalovic recently visited Tanzania for Mantra Resources Limited as part of the Mining Team for the Scoping Study being carried out for their Mkuju River Project.

The Mkuju River Project is a greenfields operation currently embarking in it's Scoping Study phase located in southern Tanzania within the Mtwara Development Corridor, around 470 kilometers south of Dar Es Salam.

The area covered by nine prospecting licenses over 3,250 square kilometers, and lies close to the borders of the Selous Game Reserve.

The uranium mineralization is observed to be preferentially hosted within sandstone and claystone and a first indicative estimation is that the deposit can be free dug. The ongoing field work program undertaken by Mantra Resources Limited has to date included geological mapping, radiometric traversing, trenching and drilling at the Nyota and NW Trend prospects. Mantra Resources Limited has also completed high resolution airborne radiometrics over the entire Mkuju River Project area.

The field trip was very important from a mining perspective as the generally soft topography is uneven and will factor into the mining method, mine design and mining equipment selections that LQS will apply to the mining section the Scoping Study. LQS is giving Mantra Resources Limited expert consulting advice to help provide the best economic solution coupled with the most efficient mining techniques and scheduling as part of the overall mining section of the Scoping Study.

World Class Gold Deposit In The Philippines - LQS Provides The Technical Muscle

CGA Mining Limited and Filminera Resources Corporation have recently reported an updated independent Mineral Reserve estimate prepared for the Masbate Gold Project by Lower Quartile Solutions Pty Ltd, resulting in a significant increase in Reserves. As at 20 October 2008, the Total Probable Reserves are now estimated to contain 92.2Mt @ 1.0g/t resulting in 3.03 million ounces of gold. This represents an increase in Mining Reserves of 53% from the figure reported in a prior technical report dated 30 April 2006.

Drawing on their extensive engineering knowledge base and using the latest cutting-edge software package versions of Whittle and Surpac, LQS staff were able to extract the optimal amount of economic material, scheduled to obtain the best balance between mill supply and cash flow returns. As part of the study LQS has optimised the mining schedule for the initial two years of production, during which time it is planned to mine approximately 8Mt of ore at an average grade of 2.0 g/t. The detailed review of the geological model and subsequent analysis of current price and mining cost projections allowed for expansion of the previously defined pits.

LQS finds gold in Finland - Nordic Mines, Laiva BFS

Laiva is currently Nordic Mines main project, and has entered a Bankable Feasibilty Study (BFS) phase. The Laiva deposit, along with some other gold deposits in close proximity, is located 15 kilometres south-southwest of Raahe, in the northwestern part of the Raahe-Ladoga zone in Finland.

The gold deposit occurs as free gold in quartz veins associated with shear zones, granodiorite and volcanics. There is a large estimated potential for substantially increased tonnage within the licensed area, which measures about 3000 hectares. Current plans have Laiva scheduled in March 2010. At full production, it is planned that the mills will have a capacity of 250 tonnes/hour. Two million tonnes ore per year will be produced at Laiva at full production.(source - www.nordicmines.se)

LQS Director Daniel Tuffin recently visited the site as part of the team carrying out the Mining Study section of the BFS. Daniel was said to be impressed with the unique geology of the deposit and the thorough core logging that Nordic Mines had carried out.
